Possible fuel issue

1961 Ih 340 gas

Hey all, get everything in carb rebuilt, tractor runs great except when in 4th gear under power, like going up a hill. At this point the tractor seems to die. It seems like maybe it's not getting enough fuel.??

Any ideas

Open the fuel drain in the bottom of the carb with a coffee can to catch the fuel.l. It should run out in a steady stream as big as a paper sweetheart straw. Allow it to run out for a minute. It should be at least a quart. If not the supply is restricted. There is a screen at the carb fitting. Jim

The gov probably isnt operating rite if it runs otherwise as going up a hill the gove should kick in and go rite to the top. Maybe the linkage from the gov to the carb isnt set correct.

Thanks, (I mean it) My suggestion was a place to start, it could be that the many other systems are contributing to the issue, but from diagnostic starting point fuel in this case is first, and cheap. Jim
