Ok guys, as usual....thx for your time.

I'm bout get the governor cleaned up and ready for reinstall. What am I looking for in it that may be bad or what not? Do governors go bad and what is it that goes bad in it? I'm sure thus is ignorant question, but I don't even understand how it works. Thx, chance

No such thing as ignorant question on this stuff. I am interested in the answers as well as I have never taken one apart and I do know that things will wear over time.

It works off of centrifugal force, have u ever been to a threshing show and seen a steam engine run, there usually two of four little steel balls up on top off the steam engine, that are spinning, well u have the same type of balls in a gas engine. the force of the balls spinning is harnessed [geared]to the venturie in the carbruetor. And yes they need lubrication from the engine oil, to keep thse pins lubed!

Thx, sounds straight forward.

Another question....I've been painting and i painted some surfaces that gaskets will mate with such as water pump and oil filter bolster. Problem or not? Chance
