My 1948 farm all H will not come out of 3rd gear. The clutch seems to be working as it does release and allows the tractor to free roll or roll to a stop. It is full of fluid. So is there any ideas to what I'm up against here? Thank you for your help.
Sorry its a 1948 if that makes a difference thx

There realy should not be a problem unless there is something broken or bent in the shifting compartment. Take gear shift out and see if you can get a long screw driver in the slot and line up all slots so they are in center of hole, but do this on level ground.

On level ground with wheels blocked, my experience, Cure for the problem after alignment? Be sure to make square shifts in the pattern. Don't "cut corners"! Cheap "fix"!

Back about 60-65 years ago I and my buddies did something in our cars (all stick shift on the column) we called "snap-shifting." Tried that on my Dad's H from 4th to 3rd and, guess what?, I stuck it in 5th and 3rd at the same time. It wasn't going anywhere! Surprising to Dad, I managed to fix it pretty quickly. Oh, he never did know how that happened!
