Transmission oil wt.

I'm using 90 wt. oil in the transmission of my Farmall A.
I would like to use something heavier because of the heat here in Texas. Would it be ok to use say 75/140 wt oil. I can't think of a reason why not, but would like some opinions on what oil wt would work best.
Thanks!

Mike

I run 85w140 in everything, my C, and H. Not sure whats in my Super M because the oil was changed right before I got it and its clean.

Not sure why all these guys are running such heavy oil in their tractors. I suspect they have leaking seals
and are too cheap/lazy to replace them.

These old FARMALL'S have splash lubrication in the transmissions & final drives, and I GUARANTEE you
there's NO SPLASHING going on with 75W-140 gear oil in them. 90 W is plenty heavy even for 100+ degree
temps. Unless you run FULL SYNTHETIC 75-140, straight 90W is fine. I'd run Hy-Tran before I'd run 75W-
140.

A bit harsh there buddy. I'm not lazy and my seals are all new. Very valid topic here. How bout a lil positive, friendly, helpful input or hold it. I guarantee 75/85-140 will splash plenty down here in the south. May not be needed as someone said, but hurt anything....I don't believe so.
