New H owner question

Just inherited a '42 H from my wife's late uncle who bought it new. I'm new to farmalls but not old tractors so I'll be going thru a bit of a learning curve here. My first very basic question is how can I tell which distributor is on the thing? I want to buy a tune-up kit but there are versions for IH distributors and versions for Delco and I need to figure out which to get. I have the same question regarding the carb.

Thanks,

Most Delco systems have a right angle drive putting the cap/rotor facing upward and outward. The IH are almost always horizontal and have an IH symbol on the casting somewhere. Within the link, scroll down for the pics. Jim

Are you sure you have a distributor or is it a magneto. I think the points are different but not sure about the condenser.

Before you start throwing money at new parts get it to run first mite not need anything and new condensers arent worth taking home unless you get Blue Streak or Echlin.

Agree. It's not running now but it clearly needs new plug wires so I'll replace those and it appears to have some carb issues (when I open the gas valve, gas runs out of the carb). Once it's running I'll assess further. It'll likely need some level of engine overhaul - in discussions some years back the uncle who passed had told me it burns a lot of oil.
