F-12 front wheel seals

I have narrow front steel wheels that have been cut down and rims welded on for rubber tires. Have them ready to install and find out the oil seals are no longer available. Has anyone else had this problem and what was your solution

Make them from some felt you arent going to be in mud or snow anyhow. Take the measurements and NAPA can get one. Who said they arent available check around.

Checked with Rice Equipment, Frank said they are no longer available. Think I will try to modify a seal retainer and use 2 felt washers soaked with gear lube and see how that works. This tractor has been a real challenge. If it wasn't the one my dad started farming with in the late 40's and he gave it to me when I was 10 it would be on the way to china. $$$

Check with the Fordson house, the still have oil seals and felts listed on their site.

I looked at the one on fordson house site but the 26731d is for the wide front. I need a 25870 or 42178d, they look like the ones used on a H but H won't fit.

I just did a cross-over lookup on NAPA. Your number 25870 crosses over to a NAPA NOS57510. $11.45 each.

Visit your NAPA store and ask for NOS57510.

OK, I just looked at the dimensions for that part number. Are you sure of the 25870? Here are the NAPA dimensions:

Attributes:
Seal I.D. : 5.75"

Seal O.D. : 6.756"

Width : .5"

A wee bit big for a front axle on an F-12

Tom The seal is like the one used on a H, a retainer drives in the hub and the seal drives on the spindle. The seal is stationary and hub with retainer turns on seal. The inside of retainer is around 3", didn't measure the spindle

Dave, I am happy to assist you in finding seals. I truly believe that we can cross reference and probably match up a seal. What I will need to assist you, is the axle diameter, seal seat diameter, and approximate thickness of the old seal. I need pretty close measurements to get this right.

I helped a friend get bearings and seals for a wide front end on his F-12. What is important is that I have the dimensions. The old felt or leather seals can be replaced with new style seals without issue.
