Farmall H Firing Problems

Hi, hope you can provide some advice. I have a restored H, stored in a barn. This spring I loaded a fresh 6V battery and gas into "Hank" and he fired right up. I plowed 15 acres and when done, parked and shut him down. He hasn't started since, cranks fine, won't fire.

I've tested the coil and it is throwing current to the plugs as it should. I've checked the carb and cleaned it out. I thought the float was stuck because fuel would run out the weep hole when I cranked. Pull it all back together and nothings has changed. He still wont fire.

I'm thinking its a fuel issue in light of the postive coil test. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'd pull the spark plugs out and have a look at them. A stuck open float will dump a LOT of fuel

The old Farmalls will always loose fuel through the vent hole if they are cranked a lot but don't start.I would pull the plug in the carb and let fuel run for a couple of minutes and see if you have a good steady stream. If not it could be anything from a stuck needle valve to junk in the screens, line, outlet of tank.I've had issues with almost all my tractors over the past couple of years with junk in one or more of those places.

Points can get a varnish hen sitting do you have a spark when you take the dist cap off and open tand close them sometimes i need to remove them and use a motorized brush to shine them up good.

Trouble shooting 101. #1 pull the center wire from the distributor and spin the engine over holding it about a 1/4-3/8 inch form the block some place. You should get a blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more. No spark or weak spark means points need to be cleaned or replaced.
If you have spark there check at all 4 plugs you should see the same spark. If no spark or weak you may have a bad cap and or rotor. If that is all good then
#2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas for a few minutes. Catch it to look for water/dirt/rust. Also when was the last time you cleaned the oil bath part of the air cleaner that can cause odd problems if full of water
