Ours were blue gangs---red frames.
Always thought the blue gangs were easier
on the eyes as opposed to red. Reflectivity.

Red frames, blue tool bars and shields and black shanks and springs. Pretty sure that was the colors of the one Dad bought new in Feb. '56 with a "carry-over" SC. BTW, I got some of Mom and Dad's papers from my sis a couple weeks ago and the receipt for that deal was included... need to go back and read it again. Will post more when I find it again.
The cultivator had a Fast Hitch rear and the front was about the same as one we had on an earlier C.

I can remember it well. The new colors were red on the front frames, blue tool bars, black clamps and shanks, and the rear tire gangs were all blue.

(quoted from post at 09:46:54 06/21/15) IH did not waste paint. Implements were painted with what ever they had at the time.

If you look through the Wisconsin IH archives you will find that considerable attention was paid to how things were painted. There was a committee that met just to determine paint schemes and then instructions given when to change anything.

As I commented earlier that the shields were blue, but we used "rotary hoe" shields part of the time and they were red like the frame. These shields worked well in the same conditions as any rotary hoe, and it allowed you to travel faster when the corn was small, like you would do with a rotary hoe.
