So last year they were running my 1066 on the blower and it blew the
front seal behind the damper pulley! Now i was not thier the day this
tractor did this! So I replaced the seal and decided to do the valves
cause they were getting a slight rattle did that started it ran it
around for 15 minutes tractor had a slight ping and a flutter never
had this flutter before! So tore the head off ended up it was bout
shot so had it all redone pulled a piston out since it was apart I was
gonna put new bearings in it and piston was scored so new rebuild kit
so finally after corn pLantana and all the fun I get this tractor put
together here fire it up for the first time the flutter is still seems
to be thier it don't seem to Rev up smooth like it should just
slightly not right! I don't k ow if I should run it a bit and see what
it does or could this be my injector pump causing this? Cause the rest
of the engine is new! Doesn't even hardly roll over and it's running!
But just don't seem normal like it was or should be!

Don't run it like that something is wrong with the injector pump. They are touchy to adjust cousin had an ih mechanic adjust pumps on his 1066 and 1466. The pump went haywire on the 1466 one time and it broke the crank due to the strain from the mis Fire. Just don't want you to tear up your rebuilt motor - good luck

There's a good chance the injection pump front cam bearing has moved back in the housing allowing oil pressure/flow to drop internally, which keeps the pump cam intervance from working correctly. That will make the engine sound strange, but will start up fine.

DieselTech, unrelated. My 900 MM decides to increase engine speed all on it's own occasionally. It's not a severe increase, maybe a couple hundred rpm. After a few seconds, it calms back down. Any clue what the problem might be?

Could be several things cause unstable speed, I'd start with the simple things first. Fuel flow from tank to filters, flow through filters to injection pump, tank vent restricted or plugged. I like to check flow for three to four minutes at least, I've seen flow look OK for 30 seconds then slow down. The injection pump you have may be the trouble too, just repaired a Case pump for the same trouble. The weight retainer flex ring breaks into small bits and plugs the return side causing erratic speeds and even shut down if bad enough, pump service clean and reseal is needed soon before the retainer pins are sheared off causing much more damage..
