Sickle mower axle

I have a McCormick 27v sickle mower and the bearing on the back wheel is bad. In order to get the axle out you have to remove a pin to remove the outer brackets. And I'm have trouble doing this. My guess is that it would be a roll pin but it's solid like a rivet but without a head. I've tried driving it through with a punch from both sides with no success. Any ideas on how to remove this pin?
Thanks in advance for any help proved, and I'm trying to include pictures if the site will let me.

Some of those pins are one way pins and can only be removed one way. Heat may be needed due to it being in for so long

The parts manual, from the best I can see in the break out picture, is a "Groov" pin, 5/16 x 2 1/2". Whatever a "groov" pin is???? It is part number M 22912.

One end may be larger , most of those are slightly
tapered , Drive it from the large end .

Are you sure that pin has to come out? That seems unusual to me, looks like the pin holding spindles on lots of IH equipment, and I've never had to remove one.

A groove pin has a ridge or multiple ridges along the side making it slightly oversize so it will fit tight in the hole. Different than a roll pin.
