450 wide front end questions

Hi every body I am looking to replace the narrow front on my 450 with a factory IH wide front. What models used this front axle and how much is the typical going rate for one in good shape?
Thanks, Wally

Super MTA through 560 and probably beyond use the same axle. Asking price is usually somewhere around $1,500. Actual value is about 1/2 of that for one that is good enough to install and use.

Wide front are over rated unless you need one for a
specific task, it takes a lot of work and time to install
and once it's there you will most likely miss your short
turning radius and dread taking it off because it take so
much time and effort. This is my opinion and don't intend
on hurting anyone's feelings .

Super M up to 806 will work for what you want.....HOWEVER if you get an axle off a 560 on up, you will need to find the shorter rear saddle so everything will line up on your 450 or you will need to put 2 inch spacers between the axle mount and the bolster

If you want bolt on like a original 450, the SMTA, 400 and 450 are the only ones with all the same parts. Spindles, knees and rear support are specific to those.

There are advantages and disadvantages of wide frts.

They do ride smoother but turn shorter.

I have a Farmall H w/power steering & belly mower,n.frt.,can turn on a dime. No wide frt.for me on this tractor, but I do have a row crop 460 that does have wide frt w/mounted loader-good stability.

Thanks for the responses everybody I may hold off on this and use the tractor a little more before I decide. It does have a new idea model 560 loader but I don't plan on leaving it on I think my main uses will be plowing and maybe some antique tractor pulls. Thanks again, Wally
