1586 dual bolts

Nephews got a 1586 which has what look like factory axle mount
dual hubs. They want the duals off now for hay making, & find
that the bolts holding the duals are tight.
I tried my 3/4 air impact & got 1 bolt loose on each side. The
previous owners didn't bother to oil the bolts when they put
the duals on the last time, so everything is dry.

Wondering if anybody has has been successful getting these bolts
loose? Heads are 1 5/16 .
I've been thinking heat & then the impact.
Thanks. Jim

Yes, they've had the cheater bar on the bolts
& no success there.
Wondered about the heat on the hub around the
bolt threads being too much??
My thoughts were heating the heads of the bolts
to soften the dryness. Maybe turn the corners,
though.
Thanks. Jim

what sze air hose are you using on the 3/4 gun? if its a 3/8 hose,is not gonna get it. the 3/4 gun needs at least 1/2 air hose, they use a big volume of air.

If you have an operators manual for any later 66 series, or 86 series tractor , look how they loosen them. NO AIR WRENCH until partially loosened. If the bolt will not turn loose at all when first attempting, it is a rusted thread problem and heat will get it's attention. If bolt turns a little ways and stops, it is then trying to push wedge loose. That is when the big hammer comes out and you hit on the top of axle right at the end of axle. If hub is so close to end of axle that you cannot hit axle, well that is another separate problem. I just moved a pair of wheels on a 186 hydro last week that hadn't been moved in ages. Customer wanted to grab air wrench right away. NOPE, keep that out of here until I get them moving easily, then it is ok. Those wedges are not cheap and when you wreck that 12 point head you are done. Welder time then.
