I am looking for a hand operated hydraulic top link. I built a fork lift for my M and I am using it to move big flat rocks from my neighbor's farm. I tilt the forks down to slide under the rocks and to pick them up. I would like to be able to manually tilt the forks after pickup, but I can't turn the top link because of the weight. Would a hand crank hydraulic jack for a top link do the job? Thanks, Ellis

Hydraulic jacks are one way, gravity or external force to compress the jack. While you could build a linkage to make this work, a two spool valve and hydraulic cylinder would work from the tractor seat. Also, it seems if you can't crank a screw top link (does it have a ratchet handle or other extended handle?) you may be putting too much load on the top link.

Andy, I can turn the top link if I try hard enough, but it hurts my hands (I'm not a youngster). The jack would only have to tilt the tips of the forks up and gravity would take over to lower. This would allow me to not have to chain stuff to keep it from sliding off. Also, I forgot to say it was on an M which hasn't got fancy hydraulics. Ellis

I'm with Mark, ratchet binder, I used one on my pull type 10ft disc for years in place of a cylinder. About $35 at the farm stores.
