Farmall H Wiring Help....

I am trying to figure out how to wire this 1940 Farmall "H". Right now, it has a Ford solenoid in it, and the factory light switch has been bypassed. Unfortunately, the wires were removed by someone else, so I have NO idea how it went! It's been converted to 12v, and NONE of the readily available wire diagrams come even close to what I have.

Ok.... this is what I have --

The "old" type 3 position light switch with the attached fuse, Magneto, genny, and Ford solenoid. I have NO idea why the solenoid is there. My question is The lights are 12v, and the old, dead, broken battery I took out was 12v, and the regulator is a 12v. So, can I wire it up per the old, 6v diagram - except for 12v lights, bat, reg, and do away with the solenoid all together? Or should I keep it in there?
They had bypassed the light switch because the knob was missing, but I found another knob. Also, I DO have a switch box cover from a newer tractor, but the fuse holder is shot. I COULD use a commercial fuse holder, newer switch, etc.....

I know it ran before everything was removed, so it DID work! I just gotta figure out what to do to get it back together!

Galen, I had done an H last year and rewired it 6 volt and it starts and runs great.
If I were doing it I would do a motor test on the gen to see if it is any good. If so go back to 6 volt set up. If gen is bad switch over to 12V with new alternater. Remove solenoid and save light switch. The lights can be 6 or 12 volt just by changing the bulbs. Use the diagrame Howard posted that will work. oldiron29

The diagram is exactly the same, 6 or 12v. It should be OK to make it positive or negative ground. Do not wire anything but a grounded Kill switch to the mag, it does not get voltage ever.
The Ford Relay on the Starter is OK, and better than most replacement manual switches.
The wire going to the amp gauge is connected to the Ford relay at the same terminal that comes from the battery. The S terminal on the relay goes to the S terminal on a Key type switch. If no Key type switch, a momentary contact push button is easy to use. It is connected to the S terminal on the relay and supplied with 12v from the load side of the amp gauge. If a Key type switch, the Mag must be shut off (grounded) with a different switch because the Key will be 12v and not to be connected to the Mag.
