Need help with Super A timing and throttle response

How can I use a timing light on a super A tractor? The timing mark is on the flywheel under the tractor and not on the front pulley. Also the tractor won't hardly rev up. I put a new carburetor on it and adjusted the linkage to the governor properly

Your tractor is timed staticly, a timing light won't help. The hardest part is finding the tiny faint scratches that
pass for the timing marks on the flywheel.

If you disconnect the governor will the engine rev up ? You might want to hook up a temorary throttle return spring so
you don't inadvertently wind up with your own exploded view of the motor.

On the contrary, ASSUMING he has Kettering ignition, a timing light will verify that the advance mechanism is working.

That's true. I saw it as the problem was no throttle response. The advance mechanism on my H was pretty solid, but the rpm came up more or less normally.

Look for an air flow restriction. I had a mud dauber nest in the air cleaner inlet one time, engine would not rev up.

(quoted from post at 06:37:01 05/26/15) Sounds like the spring is broke in the gov
hanged to a rebuilt carburetor and adjusted the governor linkage to it. Also adjusted top speed screw on governor as it was all the way in. Does a lot better now. Thank you all
