5088 3 pt controls

Having a little difficulty with the 5088. The hitch arms are only going up about halfway with the position lever. If I pull the draft control lever all the way to the light side the arms will raise all the way up. Problem is when I push the position lever back down the arms wont go back down even with a large object on the arms. I have to push the draft control lever all the way to the heavy side for the arms to go back down. So basically the position lever isn't doing anything. Does the linkage come together somewhere in the back? Is there a possibility the linkage is rusted together or something? It was working fine about year ago, but it had been sitting for the winter.

Under the cab the position control handle has slot the nut can get loose and slip when lowering. Late models had a 2pc handle it also could get loose. There also was an upgrade to rod from the handle to lift cover, the rod would bend when trying lower the hitch, IH reinforced the rod with strip of flat metal welded too the rod all I can remember now.

Thanks for the input. That fixed it. Under the cab there is a slot with a nut on it that was loose. Moved it all the way forward and tightened it up and it works great. It wasn't the easiest place to get a wrench to, but a quick fix. Thanks!
