Farmall H has oil coming out of breather tube

After I drive my H for a few minutes and park it, oil drips out of the breather tube. It never did this before and I just recently changed the oil. I know that the top petcock is the top of the oil level.
I opened it up today and drained a little oil off. Is the dripping oil just a result of too much oil? It runs beautifully and starts right up and idles like a sewing machine but I am wanting to make sure
it continues to run that smooth. Should I be concerned about the dripping? Thanks

The air cleaner has an attachment to the Head (or valve cover) it has a restrictor "orifice" in it that allows a early example of Positive crankcase Ventilation. The breather that is dripping has a brillow like wire mesh inside that could be in need of cleaning to separate liquid from vapor. It is OK if it weeps a drop or two, I would check the above. If OK, drive it. Jim

Thanks guys. I opened the top to drain some off. As far as a drop or two, it drips quite a bit on the floor to almost a small puddle.

I always go by: No oil out the top, oil out the bottom. If oil is at the bottom petcock you have plenty of oil. My understanding is that the top petcock was for tractor fuel condensing and raising the oil level.

Thanks guys for the tips and ideas. I drained about 4 oz out of the top petcock. This weekend when I have more time I will check the other things. I did clean the screen in the breather tube when I changed the oil and I believe I replaced the oil in the oil bath but it cant hurt to double check it.

Thanks for the help

In operation, the Oil became contaminated with Distillate, especially in cool weather. This dilution was problematic in that the oil was thinned down. After operation for a day (or more) the oil was drained down to the bottom petcock, then new oil was added to appear at the top petcock. From bulk containers, this was normal procedure. Using gasoline, the oil was checked by opening the bottom petcock, if oil good to go. at noon checking again if none, add to the top petcock, Good to go. Jim
