oil change in 434 IH

Hi there.
I was wondering how often do one change the engine oil in a diesel 434 IH tractor? And what weight?

Much depends on operating conditions and local temperatures. If light use but long enough to warm it well into operating temp, the oil will last longer than if operation is very short and intermittent. If operated warming under moderate load, probably 200 hours (my opinion) If not, it will not be happy and oil change might be needed at 100hrs. Delvac Mobil or Shell Rotella, or Delo brands are fine 15 40 wt works in syummer 5 40 in winter if you are north. Jim

Hi again.Sorry for waiting so long to reply.Im from Nova Scotia,cold winters and very warm summers.What weight engine oil would i use in the old IH 434?It has 15w 40 in it now, (i believe) ,and im going to change it very soon.So you mean 5 w 40 would be a good overall oil? Thanks!
