I need a "work" H, or M or maybe even a Super H

I just need a work tractor. I would like one that looks good, maybe even one nice enough to take to local parades, but not a high dollar "show tractor"

I have a couple of projects, but they are gonna take time and $$. Probably more $$ than they will be worth to fix them up nice. My Super H project needs new tires all around, etc.

But I need something NOW. I would even take something that needs paint. But main thing it, I want it mechanically good, with good sheet metal and tires. To disk the garden, go get firewood, for a sickle bar mower, pull out stuck hunters, etc.

My 706 is too big to be "handy" in many cases.. Plus it dont start good at 10 degrees.

What are good H's going for in your area? Good web sites to check for tractors for sale?

Thanks for any advice or info.

You may want to consider a C or Super C. Can be had in running and driving condition for $1000-$1500 around here. Plus you'll get live hydraulics if you needed that.

I seen a nice Super H sell for 1800 last fall. It had nice tires and a 4 year old overhaul. Paint was lacking but it ran like a sewing machine.

In this area you could get a good H for a grand-ish.

I could fix you up with one for less than that. I have one that is sound but needs front tires. Probably a little far to drive if
you are in MO, though.

Gene, I have a good one in what you are looking for. Has new "hopped" up engine rebuild for a sleepy stock puller, new tires and decent attempt at a first restoration by the PO and has just been setting in my tractor shed for the past several years. Had to convert it to a 12 volt system as the increased compression to up the power was just too much for a 6 volt system and had to be pull started when I got it. Send an email if you want more info as it came from up near Sedalia, Missouri and the engine upgrade was performed by a shop there. It's a 1951 Farmall H narrow front tractor and I live down by Rolla, Missouri, Hal.

Gene, I have 3 Hs on hand and an M that I would love to get rid of. You know I am not that far form you either. Plus a 340 and a 300U

I'll tell you my experience, a shiny red H in the Christmas parade is probably the most popular of them all. They far outshine the dull old green ones limping along behind ....

Forgot to mention, you did know about the Red Power Roundup in Sedalia, specialing in Farmalls, set for JUne 10-11-12-13. Be there.

If you are going to work with it I'd get a 300-350 or a 400-450 before I'd buy an H or an M.

Thanks everyone, I been out working in garden, etc the last day or so, and didnt' get back on here.

Yes, I will be in Sedalia, I only live about 30 miles from there. Mike French, I get up your way some, depends on hitching a ride with my wife, as that is her "territory" now.

I get down in the Rolla area some too, kids are a Waynesville.

And I know where Rich is at.

Lots of options.

I also thougth about th 300-400 or the 50's Never had one, but not much different from what I grew up with.

I looked at my old M yesterday. I have the parts (new Head gasket) it was leaking antifreeze in the oil.

It has Power steering, and an M&W hand clutch that works. It is just a time issue with me.

I'll have to ponder this a bit.

Thanks all, Oh, and I did some research on Fastline, I saw about 20 listed on there, with prices all over the board.

thanks, Again.

I have an "M" model Farmall I would like to sell because I have found a super "M" I would rather have. My "M" has a new electronic ignition, 12 volt conversion, starts and runs beautifully, has two new rear wheels, will need paint, the only issues are the oil filter I am trying to find, and it will need rear wheels in the future. The wheels are 12 x 38 and they are working just fine , however; they will need repair or replacing someday. For more info. contact me. $1800
