1086 hydraulic issues

Dad was running the finisher tonight and lost hydraulics on all ports. Also the 3 point will not work. So up to the house and we changed the filter out now he has nothing. No brakes no steering no hydraulics no 3 point nothing. My first thought was the pump was either bad or sheared the key off but now I'm not so sure where to start. It was working great up until now not slow or anything could lift anything at an idle.
Any insights?
Thanks
John

I would say that the IDPTO input shaft wore out and the hub in the pressure plate is toast . So i forsee a split at the bellhousing and a clutch job along with a new IDPTO shaft seals and bearing .

Wouldn't we have lost everything if the hub was bad? He drove it around the field a few more times and up to the house with the brakes and steering operational at that point. It wasn't until we changed the filter that we lost brakes and steering. Just don't want to split it only to find out it was something else

well , then try this to get your steering and brakes back. . Make sure yo are full on hyd oil. with the tractor setting level run the engine up to around 1900-2000 RPM and turn the steering wheel to the left and keep turning it. This will help bleed the steering circuit . That is if the PTO shaft is still turning . Also see if the PTO will engauge The PTo has it's own pump and as long as the main PTO shaft is still driving then the PTo will work. . And other trick is to apply air pressure to the fill tube with the engine running , but be warrened that you can take a bath in HYD oil when you remove the blow gun . I have had to resort to this on a couple that had weak MCV pumps when there owners did not want to put any money in them . Take a blow gun and a rag and stuff the end into the fill tube and stuff a rag around it to help seal it . Now if your 1086 has the PFC Hyd system you have have a simple tiny piece of dirt in the orface and tis will mess up the hitch and remotes , as you did not say what system you had . If it is indeed the PFC system i am not your man on fixing them as i have only worked on one so i am no expert on that and i do not have the analizer for my flow rater to test them .

I'll check to see if the pto still works when I get home later. How would I check if it has the pfc system or not? I think it is a 79 model but have to double check the serial number later.

PFC will have flow control levers below the remote levers and a small spin on hydraulic filter below the left front frame rail

If you take the narrow cover off the bottom of the clutch housing with it running you can see if things turn in the back of the clutch. As
TV said if the pto turns things should be good for connections. I have a 1086 that needs the bottom bearing for the drive shaft going back to turn all of that. I have not had time yet to do that.

Well the pto still works. And we got steering and brakes back. Must have been air locked after the filter change. So in to the pump we go. Hopefully it's just the key sheared off. And thus one is not a pfc system
