53 Super M live hyd filter

I have a 53 Super M. It has live hydraulics with remotes to the rear. I'm running my log splitter off the back. Now I know it's only 1200psi so it's not going to be super strong but the splitter is struggling. When I ran the same splitter off my char Lynn pto pump it was stronger and I think that was 1000 psi. Where is the hydraulic filter on this system? I'm going to check all fittings as the pump could be sucking air too. Thanks.
 
The Super M live system has no filter.Either change the oil frequently,or install a supplemental filter somewhere.
 
The pto pump should be 2000 psi and around 20 gp,. The 'mag' pump on the SM is only about 12-1400psi and 12 or less gpm.So no
wonder the SM pump struggles while the PTO pump just 'cruised'. Why did you stop useing the PTO pump?
 
Delta, if thats a 53, with factory hyd, isn't there a real fine screen, as it leaves the reservoir, That should be taken off and cleaned or soaked in parts cleaner fluid. That was there idea of a filter back then !
 
So there was a loose hose on the suck side and the pump sucked air. That's fixed and it splits good. Not great but good. Probably comparable to a 15 ton splitter.

I have a better one that's 20gpm and over 2000 psi but I haven't had time to get it working. The pto pump went with a Henderson trip loader that I sold.
I need to get the wood split so it has time to season. So the super M live hyds will suffice for this splitting season.
 
That char Lynn pto pump wasn't 2000 psi. It seems like the splitter is marginally more powerful with the SM hyds vs the char Lynn.
