Just finished an early 140 - picture heavy

Thought you guys might like to see this. I just finished a 1960 Farmall 140. Working on the cultivator and planter right now and should have it mounted before the weekend. Haven't seen a lot of these early style 140's "re-done" and I think they are growing on me compared to the newer style. Just as a side note, the bottom grill cowl pan was missing (as most are) and we had several made by a local metal shop. I didn't see a need to cut the crank hole but I think the new pan turned out great! Also, those are the original emblems and I hand-painted those with toothpick. It's not the greatest job ever but I think the tractor turned out really well. And yes, I got paint on the front wheels because I was touching up with a small cap of paint and apparently it was leaking and I didn't notice it. I let it happen on both wheels too while I had it sitting there. I'll get it off.

Questions/Comments/Suggestions I'm all ears. Enjoy

That's a nice job , be proud , ain't many look half that
good , lots of work to make these old work horse's new
again . Very nice tractor . Awesome .

SWEET!
Show pictures again, please, once you got the cultivator or planter mounted.
In my opinion, a tractor is only functional if it pulls/pushes/carries something.
Keep up the good work.

Very nice and one of the earliest 140's I've seen and certainly looks different then mine which is somewhat later. I like the front grille style along with the emblems and model number plates better then the ones on mine which are just stickers. Very nicely done and would be a nice exhibit at the RPRU next month in Sedalia, Hal.

Just to let you know...on flea bay there are brand new badges in plastic like my cub and cast metal also. They are $23.oo to somewhere around $43.oo The plastic one is made from the same mold as my original. Same cast marks and code marks. I almost went for the nice metal one but I put it back to original. Did this up yesterday evening. Also found that the grill screen is in three colors! Oldest tractors are federal yellow and then cream white and my late production is hammer tone grey metallic. When I sand blasted the screen that is what I found. Put it back to gray. I guess they would repaint the old stock screens as color needed.

I think the 140 and the cub are very close. Your hydraulic unit looks just like a cub unit. How come yours has TWO handles? On a cub the single handle just activates the front one that rolls back and forth about 90*. Let us know. Thanks.

The hydraulics on a Super A, C, Super C, 100, 200, 130, and 140 are all the same unit and the levers move the front and rear implements separately where the Cub the front and rear are moved together.

Are you certain that IH painted the grills on Cubs Yellow....Thought they were always White/Offwhite? Also, I don't recall the latest ones being Grey. I do recall them being black on the "longstripes".
