Farmall m six blade fan

I bought a 6 blade fan for my M recently. It was bolted on another M water pump when i seen it. Does anyone know what these where for or who might have made them?

International made them. The 6 blade fan is shown in the parts book. The normal 4 blade fan sucks air through the radiator. The 6 blade fan actually blows air through the radiator. Used in dusty, trashy conditions to keep the radiator clear.

Don't get the wrong impression from Randy's comment. Yes, the 6 blade fan could also be used on the diesel M, but it was not specific to the diesel. It was available as special equipment for both the gas and diesel M.

Six blade fans came on 400, 450 diesels, I'm not sure about gassers, but they all fit M-450

Never understood the logic behind those, wouldn't it just pack the debris into the inside of the radiator instead, which is harder to clean???????????

You would think so, right? Isnt the purpose of the mesh screen in the front nose intended to keep larger items from blocking the radiator? I would think that dust/dirt is going to clog it no matter which direction the air flows.
