The dog and I walked over to my neighbours place today, to get an oil filter for my old M. He recently bought the remaining parts from a IH dealership that closed in 1085. He has all the parts books to get the part number from, and then he goes to drawers of cards to find how many he has and where they're located.I ended up with a couple of bags of 66 series cage nuts and a few oil filters. I'm sure i'll be back next weekend for more goddies.

How do you get to buy the remaining parts stock from the dealer?? Or a closed dealer?? I hear of this happening all the time but don't know how the opportunity comes up. I would love to be abLe to do this ....with more than One dealer. Sounds like he got it all organized like it was in the warehouse too

It would be fun to purchase a old dealers parts. My neighbour worked at this dealer as a machanic till it closed. He then worked at home in his evenings on IH's and still bought parts from the retired dealer till he went to a home. The family sold him the remaining parts last fall.
He hasn't got them all organized perfect yet, but he's working on it. Kent

Kent, If he would happen to have either or both the 374976R91 Filter or 375078R91 Filter Kit for sale I would certainly appreciate his contact information as I need them for my 240 and seem to be somewhat difficult to find as they have been discontinued by CaseIH. My email is open and thanks much for the assistance, Hal.

Kent, I received your email you sent through the forum about the filter and sent a response last evening - trust you received it - thanks much and look forward to hearing back from you, Hal.

There was a IH dealer that closed his doors back in the 1980's. All the parts were bought by a salvage dealer. He put everything in 55 gallon barrels and sold it for scrap. I looked through the barrels and saw parts for older Farmall tractors. Sure was a shame for all those parts getting dumped out like that. I wonder how often that happens?
