Hough hydraulic shovel on O-12

I have a Hough hydraulic shovel on an O-12. C H Wendel book titled 150 years of I H shows this loader combo on page 328. I have a I-12 that this should go on with factory rear wheel weights. My question is when did I H come out with the Federal yellow paint? What color should this be painted? I am trying to put it back to as near original as I can as I have never seen an actual complete one of these. Please put your 2 cents in as this paint job will cost me alot of $$$ Thanks

Before 11/1/36 gray with red wheels, after that date all red. Yellow or orange (more likely than yellow) would have only been applied on a special order.

Industrials could be painted what ever color the buyer wanted. Ive got a '24 Model 20 that has been green from the day it was born, never grey or red

Have two I-30's. one is a '35 and it was painted red and the other is a '36 which was originally painted yellow

My I-12 was originally red, its a '37

All 36s were gray,they ended the gray on 11-36 because of inventory of the factory,jan of 37 were red

Thanks Guys All points well taken. I have 2 shop mules with orange under the red. Sounds like anybodys guess
