Eventually I will get this all together and quit bothering you with questions!! I have noticed 2 different couplers for the front, power) side of the torque generator. One is a solid coupler and the other has some flex. It looks like from the illustrations, that the old kits came with the flexible one, kind of like a universal joint. It is more expensive than the plain one but wondering if I will need to get the flexible one? thanks for all the help so far on this project

Flex coupler if installed correct also has the ability to let the worm shaft move back without putting end thrust on the steering unit internals. No matter how good the worm shaft bearing is after time some back and forth movement of the worm shaft will happen. Some even bouncing over rough ground. That said I'm not crazy about the flex couplers. Should have put keyways in the ends and a hole to grease with a needle nozzle. Plus priced way to high for the quality.

That flex coupler should be in there. It flexes both horizontally and longitudinally. I found one on ebay, painted green "for a JD" I got it for almost nothing.
