Ok been delayed by weather and family stuff- All mounting holes for column have been helicoil'ed.
But a few question s:
1) Studs to align column-one is pushed down in tractor very far, to far to be of much value in aligning column. That part which sticks up is bugged up and I can't get a hold of it. It is loose enough to move a tad. Can I drill and tap to pull out? wire weld something on so I can get a grip on it? OR is there room in the hole to drive it in and just install another on top of it?
2)The freeze plug on the bottom end of the column- looks like I can see about 1/3 diameter of the edge sticking down below the casting recess. Pretty sure it will leak, should I pound it back in? or go get a new one from the dealer? I have NO experience with freeze plugs at all so any advice welcome.
3) what lube goes in this gear box? I seem to have misplaced the book. Is there a drain on this unit? I see only a filler plug.
4) anything else I should check out before installing? well it is "on the bench"?
thanks again
