Broke Back Tractor

Hi Folks, '59 240 U International. Took my tractor out of mothballs from the winter. Checked all the Oils and fluids before starting up. Everything's up to snuff. Started right up, warmed up. Put it into gear and.... Left Rear wheel turns fine, Right side locked up... Thought it might be the brake plate locked up, so I disco'd the pedal and run the pad adjuster all the way out. nothing locked there. I'm stumped. I rebuilt this tractor from the ground up in 2002,and it's performed flawlessly until I guess when I parked it for the Winter in Nov. No issues when I turned the key off....Anybody have any ideas????

Already tried the ol' Rock-it back and Forth in 1st & Reverse and no dice. I can pray it's ONLY the brakes. I really hope I don't have to break open the Gearbox. Question/ The Rear axels are Limited slip, Right? These old girls don't strike me as Posi-trac unless they're marketed as 4WD....

The only limited slip is by you putting your foot on the brake of the tire thats spinning. Some models have a differential lock, not sure about yours

Yeah, Tried to break it loose with several variations. If I jack up and block the right side alone, will I be able to spin the tire after I pull the Brakes or will the left side lock it up being on the ground?

the right tire should spin once it's off the ground and the brakes are loose/pulled. I agree with the others that it could be the discs stuck together. my 340 has done it to me. pull the brake cover and take a look.

The tractor needs to be in NEUTRAL for the wheel to turn with one jacked up. If it is in gear it will not turn.

The brake drum is 5 bolts. If they've been off in the last 20 years and put back on with never-seize it's a 3 minute job to spin them out with a ratchet wrench. Nothing to fear.

I'd do that fifty times before pulling the hood off a Farmall Cub, but it looks like the hood's gotta come off AGAIN because the generator went poof on me.

Thanks Guys for the opinions, I rebuilt them back in '02 complete, so I know it wasn't age, but who the hell knows. I have her covered up all the time but rust never sleeps and this is Washington after all....I'll pull it off tonight.

You all win a cookie....God what a mess, not quite a giant ball of Rust but it's time to break out the sanding wheel. The disks are intact, so the rest is metalwork. Question, am I right in assuming I can't soak everything in Kroil to lube up the Bearings without cleaning everything with Brake cleaner afterward. I can't tell what the Disks are made of....Asbestos?
Thanks again all.

original brakes were asbestos so be careful with the sander on those. I'd shine things up and then use a can of brake clean and air gun getting the oil/junk out of there again. good luck!
