Make damn sure every thing is corretly timed(all timeimg marks line up) BEFORE you put a wrench to it.

X 2 what Delta said! The model 100 Ambac pump turns crank speed, while the hydraulic head turns cam speed. Once it's off engine don't let junior play with it by turning the pump shaft. The repair shop can look to see if it's on 1 or 6 so it will go back on same as it came off..

so buying a rebuilt one and letting them have the core is out of the question then? I was hoping this wouldn't be so complicated I definitely don't want to mess something up. Junior shouldn't be a problem he or she isn't going to be here till august. I was hoping I wouldn't have to hire anyone with a baby on the way and a land payment to make! lol thank you again for your help.

You can buy another pump.No problem. Just Line up the timing marks in side the pump and the marks on the flywheel and you will be fine. If you dont have a service manual,BUY ONE!It will be money well spent.

If the injectors have not been out for a long time, drain the cooling system before you remove them. If they are stuck in you could pull the injector sleeve out. This will let coolant in to the engine. Just a safety precaution.

Since I not longer repair those injection pumps, I tell everyone that needs pump work to have their own pump repaired if it has been a good faithful operating pump. Never know what you get off the shelf.
