1939 FARMALL A PARTS!!!

Hello my name is Isaac I am a high school student and I am restoring a 1939 Farmall A for the Delo Tractor Restoration competition, I have torn down my entire motor and transmission and am in the process of reassembly... My newest concern is body and upon further inspection I have discovered extensive rust hole damage in both fenders and the grille they are all beyond rescue. I am in real need of a grille and fenders please let me know if you have anything I would prefer to stick to used original parts.

Isaac, Give us your location and then we might be able to locate a Salvage Yard in your area that could help you.

Big thing is where you are. Shipping can cost a whole lot. The fenders from a B should also fit by the way and I have a couple of them but I am in Missouri

Keep in mind your sheet metal is for a 39 and later models will not work same as the radiator. Does it have the hand start and do you need the sw on the mag that kills it.

Tractorhouse under Dismantled machine section show 3 Farmall A's at Myers Ward Tractor, Riverside, CA, 800-344-9494.

Still could be a long way ?

Bill

Thank you for all the responses this is an awesome site!!! Ive talked to Meyers Ward and they only have one grill and its pretty beat up haven't heard of the other place but three disassembled A's sounds promising I will check there! Im not afraid to pay shipping if anybody knows of somebody who has one!!!

Remember your grille has the 1/4 turn fasteners and latrmodels will not work. Can anything be saved from the old grille as they are in three pieces. The metal used in them can be restored unless its rusted away and original grille cloth can be purchased from suppliers its not somethng you can buy over the counter at stores as the squares openings are little less than 5/16. I have a good top. You didnt answer about the slide sw used on 39 models. Does it have any lite system. Have you a good source to know just what the 39 was when new and what is the serial# on the engine. Does your pedal cover have the serial plate mounted there. What about bell housing does it have a place for starter. Can you read the cast codes? First starter wasnt till March 40. You need the serial#s and cast codes to realy know how your tractor should be when completed IF it is a restored project or just repaint ect. You are asking for parts but do you realy know just what is needed for that model therefore cast codes and serial# from engine is very important.

Check with the auto body program at the vocational ed. school you attend. Maybe they could fix it for you as a project in their own right.

It does not have a starter it is crank only the ID tag is on the floor panel and no mine is defiantly not savable the lower portion is rusted all the way through and the middle section is badly dented in and the top has a few rusted through holes most the metal is paper thin… I am pretty familiar with body work it would take many hours to make it a functional grill it is unlikely too due to the now very thin metal due to rust damage

You have a very early A dont throw the grille away as the fasteners are pricey and your grille does have one on the bottom also so finding another one like that is very very hard to find. I have one i could sell but it is not cheap. You also need the slide sw for the mag you can have just send me your adress you will need to buy the cable but they are easy to find is the little bracket on the steering post still there with a round hole as thats where the cable mounts.

How much would you want for that grille and what are you talking about the mag?
