What does the "g" stand for? I can't seem to find any info on. It. This engine was just removed from a Farmall C tractor. It's a c-113 engine.

Reading the "Farmall Letter Series Tractor" book, I do not see any mention of the "M" letter or the "g".

Yes that I what I read in a post that I found using the search. Hmm. Idk.

Note that this is the Engine Serial number and not the tractor serial number. I think the "m" goes along with the "fc". I think it means "Farmall C Motor". The "m" would be some sort of code for a special option.

I never saw a high drum on a c , but I believe you to be
correct and that is probably a high compression gas engine
.

(quoted from post at 03:03:10 04/21/15) G is high drum cotton picker--if IH made one for a C.

So you're saying it was an attachment, a Farmall C converted to a cotton picker, or just a cotton picker jay used a FARMALL C Engine ?

I apologize but i noticed I typed incorrectly earlier. Should have said "g" would be the special option code.

FCM is just the code letters IH used to ID a C engine serial number. G for a special attachment that attached to the completed tractor would be on the tractor serial number tag, not the engine block. Shouldn't a C engine have X suffix codes like X1 for gasoline? Have no idea what the G is unless its internal and other parts was switched to a gas engine in its lifetime and someone put a G on. But it looks like the same type stamp as the other letters so really don't think that's the answer.
