Tried to get original thermostat out of housing but it is stuck so dont want to damage it,it was'nt heating up when I tore down engine so I will leave it alone!Just wondering if the same ones are still available from CaseIH or just replacements?Cleaned the end up and found this on the end[Fulton Sylphon,Knoxville,Tenn.Made in USA. IHC. Range 165-195 degrees. With part #257440R-91 Oh almost forgot I did take the spring out that holds it in,it is stuck to the housing!

Get an original one at Case-IH. Get rid of the old one, clean out the rust, and make sure to re-install the wire retainer with the new thermostat. Gaskets as needed, too.

So you have one of these puppies.

Yes,matt wilson that looks like it,can only see each end,but am sure it is the same one!Dad bought this tractor slightly used in late 50's or early 60's so am sure it is the original thermostat,it had been turned over and dealer had replaced everything that was damaged except fuel tank and air breather both still have a slight dent in them.Dad bought a new M-F 230 diesel around 1979,then he passed in 1982!Around 1983 my mother said my sister was wanting one of the tractor's so I said that was an easy decision[guess which one I kept]LOL! I was raised on this old Super-C,sure was'nt going anywhere!Cant wait to get her back together will bring back old memories! Thank's!

Matt Wilson, just wondering if different manufacturers made these thermostats or were there several that made them? Thank's!
