Ih 684 tractor advice

Hi everyone looking at purchasing a ih 684 with 239 d Diesel engine and a westerndorf loader. I no experience with these
newer ih or even the 239 engine. What are some know problems with these tractors or engine? Going to take another look
at it soon and want to double check everything out before I purchase it. It's got a new clutch. Good rubber n 3200 hrs and
always stored indoors. Any advice can help me out. Thanks Jim.

I have a 584 and an 884, both are good tractors. One negative point, if the parking brake needs replacing, it's "major surgery!"

Hi, spent many hours on the seat of a 684. Very good tractor, only problems as cool hand said the parking brake being left on and driven by the Operator would cause parking brake band to be chewed up and dumped into hydraulic oil.

I have a late 684 and really like it. Seems to have great power for the size and really easy on fuel. All of the German diesels like to be worked so if it is idling around doing light work a lot, try to give it a spell doing tillage or bush hogging every so often.

The tractor in the photo likely has the straight line shifters which work great if maintained. If they get worn they can be tricky but they are easily rebuildable. Other than the parking brake issue already mentioned, a well maintained '84 series is really a great little tractor.

Looks like a straight early 684, has the nice flat tops and extendable 3pt arms.

Parking brake and brakes are the main concerns.
