My cousin recently purchased a farmall c. He was wondering if it would pull a 2-14 plow or if that would be to much for it? Thanks for you help.

I would say one 16" bttom is right for a C.But it really depends on your soil.Sandy, sticky clay........But,Bryce pulls 2x14 wth a C in Idaho

We have heavier soil but its fairly flat. I've been finding a lot of videos on you tube of c pulling two bottoms but not sure how big the bottoms are.

DeltaRed is right, I do pull 2x14 with my Super C or my C (but the C has a rebuilt SUPER C engine sssshhhh... )

We have VERY thick, hard soil up here, clay is the main ingredient. Add sod and rocks, and you have North ID..

While I do pull 2x14 in 2nd gear, keep in mind, I personally only plow about 3-4 inches deep at the most, just because then you start getting into more and more rocks....

At our plow days, the other guys demand that we plow 6 inches, and 2x14 behind the C is ALL it wants. 1st gear, working hard, and ONCE in a while 2nd gear... Would be a perfect match to be pulling 2x12.

I also have the original mounted IH C294 plow for my C too.. It was ordered brand new here in town....

Borrow someones and give it a shot! :)

My brother had a mounted IHC 2-14 for his, with wide front and 2 sets of those little weights in the front wheels,it pulled it, but that's all it wanted. If you have coulter's all the better, pulls easier.

Those are some cool pictures. Thanks for sharing those Bryce. I'll have to see if I can find a different plow for it that would fit it a little better.

Personally I wouldn't hesitate in putting the 2x14 behind it and at least trying it... Mine has all the power for it in 1st, but that is a little too slow. The problem I run into though is traction. As you can see, the C has 2 sets of rear weights, and it does pretty good, but the SC only has one set (neither machines have fluid in the rears) and it really struggled in a few spots... Stock 11.2 x 36 tires...

I think that with two, maybe even three sets, these little guys would be about unstoppable!

Something else to think about, the plow that I am using, is set up PERFECTLY for the C, it has AWESOME shares, and REALLY good moleboards, and I have my coulters set up right. ALL those things put together can make or break and easy pulling plow, as I am sure LOTS of people will tell you!

Lets see some pictures of your stuff! Especially the plow! :)

C or super c it is lite and close to 20 horsepower 2 - 12 inch plows would be perfect however 2 - 14 is possible . I would take it to the plow day and pull other folks plows to see how it works as we all tend to have different ideas on how fast we want to go and how.hard we want to pull our tractor. I have a 53 SC with a C146 and have no trouble pulling a 2 14 or 2 16 but I have nearly twice the original horsepower .

Well, I have a little dirt on him! My mom is the official picture taker for the club, so she tries to get a few shots of everyone!

I think that this is a 340 Cat. VERY early one. His dad bought it brand new locally, and has been on their farm all it's life... Mans name is Verland... REALLY great guy! :)

Loves his cat too...... :)

Put 5 weights on each rear wheel, that's equal to the fluid that would normally be in there, and one set which they all had.

I have 12.4x36 rear full of fluid and 3 weights on each , no spinning but will stand up if conditions are rite.

In ost soils it works fine but there is always some soil thats just hard to plow with anything. The mounted plow made for the C is a 2 bottom.
