IHC 4130 Skid Steer Hydraulics

While moving a bale the motion controls started acting funny. At first they were sluggish and now they don't really do anything. The lift hydraulics seem to work ok. I don't want to throw a bunch of unnecessary parts at this thing but I don't know much about hydraulics. The manual shows a test "box" to check pressures so is this a dealer fix? Also I refilled the hydraulic oil with non-HyTran fluid. Did I wreck something doing that?

Unfortunately a dealer probably won't have the first clue how to work on the thing. It's so old and so few were made...

I sincerely doubt putting non-hytran fluid in it caused any problems, UNLESS it wasn't compatible with the fluid that was in there, and had some sort of reaction. If the bucket says "Hytran compatible," you should be ok.

Beyond that though, I can't be much help.

That machine was built by hydra- mac company in theif river falls Minnesota. Hackett sales in sully Iowa has the largest
parts inventory then anyone and still services them. Their number is 1-888-594-3777. You can try your local case ih dealer
they might have a manual on it. I have found a manual at our dealer and if your not sure about checking Hyd pressures you
better leave that to the pros.

Well after I pulled the seat off I found the problem. One of the control arms had fallen off the lever. Apparently when I redid the controls I didn't tighten the locknuts on the ball joints. The other one was loose too. I did learn that my assumption that the drive and lift systems all run off the same sump was way way wrong. Both drive boxes were nearly dry and the little sump on the pump drive was also empty. Thanks for the parts contact, I imagine I may need it in the future. Moral of the story is, the operating manual doesn't do any good if you don't read it. Thanks again,

Hey, at least you didn't have to venture into that great black hole of the drive system on that thing. I'd take a "stupid" oversight like that any day over a true failure.
