1486 remote hydraulics very slow, torque shifts funny

I have a recently acquired 1486, I hooked it to my field cultivator the other day, found out that I needed adapters to get the hydraulic
hoses to plug in, got those, now the field cultivator lifts and the wings fold down, however, they are both very slow! while playing with
things a bit, the tractor started to squeal. I couldn't figure out where this squeal was coming from, but after trying most everything else,
I shifted the torque from hi to low. The squealing stopped right away. I should also mention that the torque in this tractor shifts goofy.
When going from low to high, it shifts pretty good, when going from hi to low it feels like you pulled the tractor out of gear then all at
once it catches and off you go. The catch can happen quite quickly and sometimes the front end even comes off of the ground when this
happens. Could these issues be related? Is there a hydraulic pump that feeds both of these systems that could be getting weak? This is a
1977 model 1486 with open center hydraulics. Also, the hydraulic fluid looks newly changed, I have picked up a new hydraulic filter for it,
but haven't got it installed yet, hoping to do that tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated, I need the tractor soon for spring tillage.

Change the filter first. Two systems at play here, but both have the same oil inlet thru the filter.

If the squeal doesn't go away, pull the hitch pump and check that o-ring.

If all this doesn't straighten out that T/A, it needs major repairs. As in new T/A.
