f 12 farmall question

Is there anything wrong with using a muffler on the F12. Did they come from the factory with mufflers?

I don't think the factory put mufflers on them, but there is not a thing wrong with using one.

tractors before 1940 didn't have mufflers, or it was not common. but the 10-20 did have a factory muffler that was horizontal. it was after the new styling in 1940 that mufflers were common. my opinion is that when ever I see a pre 1940 tractor with a muffler it looks goofy, but I like original looking stuff.

Mufflers and spark arresters are "special equipment" and are listed on page 33 of the TC-9-B parts catalog. Mufflers were available for all the F series but were optional. Originals are almost impossible to find since they corroded easily.
Lots of hard hearing old farmers around ya know
