Farmall 200 axle question

So I just picked up a farmall 200 from a guy down the road I noticed tonight that the left axle is 6 to 8 inches longer than the right axle is this
normal or not?
Thanks Dan

Uhm are you in surgar beet country, That the only reason i know they had one longer than the other, but always thought they were too small for a beet lifter.

seen both sizes..a lot have been gotten from super c ... cause alot have been bent from sticking out so far,,,,,move the wheels out until you get use to it......got mine hung on a fence post first time i mowed with it ...pulled me right into the barb wire.....thank the lord the clutch and brakes stopped me............dewy

The 200 came with long axels standard to allow the rear wheels to extend to 88-inches center to center with the wheels turned out to the maximum width. The C and SC originally were stock with axels 4" shorter for 80" center to center on the rear wheels. Longer axels could be had to extend the rear wheel spread to a full 96-inches. Someone may have changed out one of the 88-inch axels for a shorter 80-inch version since they were identical for the C through the 240 and beyond except for length. My dad had a 200 that was his primary tractor for at least 20-years and he never got the 88-inch axels into a fence or anything else and neither did I nor my uncle or brother. We do not need to blame the equipment for our errors. The tractor goes right where we drive it.

The reason we were able to keep off the ends of the axel was because we drove the units with the wheels widened out to 80-inches for 40-inch rows so much. The tractor was wide more than in for plowing. We just drove it the same with the wheels in as we did with the wheels out. I have seen these tractors at shows with the long axels blown off with a cutting torch and that sickens me. Sorry I sounded gruff and please do not take it personal. I may be kind of abrasive but I was trying to poke fun. Fell flat I guess. God Bless.
