RFD TV Mecum

Hello: Haven't posted in awhile so I'm not sure if this has already been discussed, and I'm gonna remain positive, but. Am I the only one who get's slightly AGravated when a certain host w/initials (M.W.) of the Mecum's Gone Farmin Auction broadcast on RFD TV, gives out totally incorrect information on tractors? Especially concerning IH Farmall? Can someone up there give him a cheat sheet? I'm not callin for his head or nuthin, but I'm sure he's paid well. Can't he get some sorta reference guide with fast facts (manufacturing firsts or uniqueness) about the different makes and models? Everyone hasn't drank the green Kool-Aid have they? Thanks; Mark R. Williamsville, NY

Hint-hint. There is a comment/complaint page on Mecum's website. First time I saw him give color commentary on an auction he made me so #$&%@ mad I fired off a nasty-gram the next morning.

If you have something specific, you can hunt him up in person in Davenport in three weeks, April 10&11.

I am with y'all as the green tractors seem to get all there credit, and the red tractors well it's a farmall or something. That make my blood boil.

Just because you're on TV does not mean you make millions of dollars a year.

RFD isn't a big-budget channel either. They're not going to have a huge staff of researchers and people writing things for the announcers to say. All they do is stick the guy in front of the camera and tell him to keep talking.

You get what you get. The announcer is a JD fan and couldn't care less about any other color. He's only being paid for the time he is on camera, and probably not well.

I'll try to remain positive too but, frankly, your attitude stinks. Whatever he is paid, he agreed to do the job. He should do his best or find another job he likes better. I am sure he makes enough to pick up a few books on the subjects he covers. The auction lineup is known, so he can look up unusual items and give some actual facts instead of sitting up there phoning it in. It would be a wonderful thing to see more people with good values who care about what they do. It's not all about budgets and paychecks. You have to have some personal values too.

I don't really know this individual you are referencing, but will say this. After working at a Deere Dealer for a few years you come to realize what you thought for years is true. All other colors are laughing stock to a Deere man. The way I look at it is John Deere is good stuff, that is if you LIKE John Deere's.

Amen. Personal values are almost extinct. Just look at the so, called leadership in this country. No accountability, not even to ones self apparently.

Nope it's not all about budgets and paychecks. We should care so much about our jobs that we're willing to spend our last penny and every waking moment to do them to absolute perfection. To hell with things like food and shelter and clothing and transportation and spending time with your family.

All that matters is making our masters as much money as possible, right?

I'm more interested in what the Farmalls sell for in comparison to "equivalent" JD's, usually several thousand less. I don't pay much attention to the narrator. I'm no expert but I can find mistakes no matter who is talking, no matter what show it is. I look at the tractor and don't pay much attention the one doing the talking, as no one is perfect. The comment about the lack of money in the channel is correct, I'm just glad to have RFD TV.
