Early M foot starter switch

Anyone know where I can find a foot switch for my 41 M?
The fella that had before just stuck a 5/16 bolt through the hole and it's impossible to get my foot down there to start it.

Salvage yard.Mike at Steel Wheels Ranch would be my
first choice.Early Ms used a single 'peg'(just like
yours)to engauge the starter. Yes,they were a royal
pain...especially with muddy overshoes!

The push button switch you have now lines up perfectly with the 5/16" bolt. The foot operated lever WILL NOT line up with that same switch. You would need to also swap the rear gas tank support for the newer style which locates the starter switch properly to line up with the foot operated lever.

Easiest, and best way to solve the dilemma is to convert to the LATE style, steering post mounted starter switch. Then you can use your left hand to operate it.

Here is a steering wheel post and switch. Seems pricey, I'd hope to find this for around $40. The previous owner of my tractor bored out the hole and put in a bolt, this weakened the steering post and it broke off one day when we were plowing. I ended up getting a new post and the later style palm starter switch bracket but wasn't concerned with keeping it original.

I probably have the bracket to mount the switch on
the steering post, it uses same bolt as amp box. You
would just need different cables. If I have it I
will give you the bracket just pay shipping. I don't
use them on my diesels so I am getting rid of unused
parts. Email is open. Jim

Should be no problem mounting the lever type starter switch operating assembly on the 41 model. Probably need to drill the hole in the steering post at the proper height to mount. Need a switch with the correct length from mounting holes to end button if someone substituted a different one.

on my M i used a carrage bolt w/ a sring on the back
side straight through the hole , you could make a
lever to do what you want , seen that many time, the
button boxes are on e-bay all the time fairly cheap
, they actual where part of the factory kit to add
electric start , so would be original too , just
need longer cables , not sure if your looking to be
original but seen lots of great ideas at shows
people have made to suit themself , its always fun
to make the correct police scratch there head.
