300 RC won't start no fire

I can't get 300 to start. no fire. I put in new
points and condensor. I checked the coil and it
is hot on both terminals. This is 12v so
usually only the + side of coil lites up. But
it lites up on - terminal. .
When it is up and running the + is constant
lite and the - is blinking from rotor action.
I installed new coil it is liting on both neg
and pos. I will try it again this afternoon
after church.
Hopefully someone has an idea that i am
missing. 300 ran fine 2 weeks ago and now this
rears it's ugly head.

If setting not running with Ignition ON the high input side of the coil MUST be hot with respect to frame ground while the low output side to distributor is usually OFF because the points are usually then closed. With Ign ON and cranking her over a test lamp on the low output to distributor should flash ON when points open but OFF when they are closed.

If it never comes on points are closed or shorted out or the condenser is shorted out or coils primary is open

If it never goes off points are bad or burned or not closing or not grounded or a wires open.

If you work through my Ignition Troubleshooting Procedure linked below it will explain all this in more detail and guide you to the cause of your problem.........

Points are often the cause of a firing problem, they need to be clean and adjusted. Sometimes a condenser or its wiring will get shorted.

Make sure your point are set correctly ,and that your hot is on the correct side ,if positive or negative ground . Another thought is that new parts are sometimes faulty.

12 volts on both sides of the coil when the points are closed means you have an open circuit so the points are dirty or have a protective coating on them which some of the cheaper point come with. Clean the points and see if you then have spark. When you open points up by hand you should see and hear a spark at them
