Any help finding hydro fluid Strainer 374976R91 and filter element 375078R91 for Farmall 240 would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your only hope is to find a usable one on a parts tractor.

CaseIH doesn't carry those parts anymore and there's nothing else that comes close as a substitute.

Thanks for quick reply. I have been looking for a week now and have come to the same conclusion. I might be able to repair the strainer, but I have had no luck with the element either. What do all these guys driving their restored 240's and sending photos of them to anyone who will look use as an element? Yes. That was a shot because I AM jealous of them. Just thought that current owners of these old girls have to have some way of filtering the hydro fluid. That is why I am pleading in this large YT audience. Thanks again.

It is very likely that the nicely restored ones aren't doing any work, and therefore have no need to filter the hydraulic fluid. Start with a clean system, put in clean oil, and don't connect any external implements, the oil will stay clean. Previous versions of the 240, i.e. the 230, 200, Super C, and C, had a simple screen strainer in them and no filter at all.

240's aren't all that common, which is why the filter and strainer aren't made anymore.

Luckily both mine were usable. I hosed the filter out with gasoline and re-used it.

Check with your local bumper to bumper as I have
found wix to have a few odd filters that may fit .

Thanks for that info. My element and strainer have both been in the coffee can of gasoline for a well needed bath and scrub down. From the looks of the gunk that was plastered on both items, I would guess that neither had been replaced since 1990 or so. Since I acquired it I have used it for maybe forty hours before I discovered what a hydro strainer/element was. You can help, however. Was the original strainer made from metal, as opposed to the later screen version with element? It seems to me that if I am able to restore my screen strainer and then run it without a filter element, that fluid pressure would crush the screen. Am I correct? Thanks again.

Well any ideas of a "will fit" number from a Wix inventory would be great.

In my experience, the parts guy isn't willing to spend hours pawing through all the boxes on his shelves looking for a possible match. It ou
