Late 1939 F-20

I just pulled this tractor out of a shed after a 25+ year sleep. It is in great shape other than it is stuck. Serial number is 146767. What is the latest F-20 serial number known? Also I noticed the rear rims were split rim design. Do I need to pay special attention or be carefull??

What a find! Wonder what the lever is just to the left of the clutch? Be careful with those split rims. Put a chain around them when inflating tires or they can blow off and take your head with them! My '39 F 20 also has the lift all hydrulic pump. True Son

The lever is an aftermarket add-on to the PTO/Pulley lever.

Check the casting dates for "J" which is 1940.

One of my F-20s with a late number like his has J casting dates which means it was assembled in 1940.

IHC never threw anything away. If they needed a few parts to make another tractor, they would cast what they needed.

Remove the plugs then with a lite you can see the cycl walls and if they are rusty tear down is the answer. Neighbor brought one over that was stuck late model like yours. Walls were in great shape so i squirted wd-40 in all 4 cycls let it set a day hooked a chain to rear wheel down at the bottom and up over the top hooked to the B and in gear lite pull and it broke free. It also had the split rims. They still built f-20s due to orders after the Ms came out.My Dad bought one cause he couldnt afford the M used iT till 49 then got the M

Thanks everybody, I will check the casting codes today. The previous owner decided to remove the spark plugs and mice took up residence in one of the cylinders. The head will have to come off. I will get a few more pics of it today.

All of the casting codes are I. Most codes are March and a few are February of 1939. This tractor was sold new in 1940 to a local Man. I bought it from his daughter in law. When he bought it there was a brand new M sitting next to it at the dealer. He chose the carry over F-20 because it was cheaper!!
