Some time ago I asked about hooking up a enerater to a 44 Farmall A.m m The answers wewre good but I now am in a quandry about a or B circuits. Here is the problem. Generator is an Autol;ite, rebuilt by pro's. Is it an A or B. Has a saddle regulator on it. Model no TC 4301-A Serial number 1251727. Is the A on the model number indicative of an A system?
Thanks Henry E.

Autolite regulator #TC 4301-A is for an "A" circuit system.

I DOUBT the "A" suffix specifically indicates that, but the model number does.

Your generator should be a DelcoRemy 1101355 or 1101423 with cutout on top to be original so its hard to tell how it is wired now.

Bob, thanks for the answer I was looking for.

Gene Bender-- I know you are the expert on Farmalls and I follow your answers regularly to questions, but you answer to my question was not even approached by your reply. I did not say I wanted an original generator ( I have several good one in m y shop) I justm wanted to know how to hook up the one that came with the 44 A. I dont care what the correct police have to say about it, the battery is an 8 volt and the Generator is set for 8.7 volts. So, Thanks again BOB for the answer to my problem

I hear a lot more whining on this site from people complaining about the correct police than I actually hear from the correct police.

In your original post, you said
Generator is an Autol;ite, rebuilt by pro's. Is it an A or B.
You also sort of asked the same question about the regulator, which Bob answered. Bob did not respond to your question about the generator. You said the generator was rebuilt, but did not say whether the "pro's" had even seen the regulator.

Based on what you posted about the generator, we have no idea whether it is an A or B and whether it belongs with that regulator. Gene rightly pointed out that the generator is not the original therefore we have no way to tell what it is or how it should be wired. That is the ONLY answer that can be given to your question, given the information you provided. He was just trying to help and doesn't deserve to get ragged on over it.

In your add-on reply, you indicate the generator is set for 8.7 volts. Since there is no such adjustment for a generator but is for a regulator, I assume your "pros'" made that adjustment to your regulator when they rebuilt the generator. If so, they probably made sure they were the same type. If so, you can go ahead and wire it up as an "A" circuit. If that assumption is wrong, wire it up anyway. If the smoke comes out, you can start over.

It seems to me that the whole point of my question was answered by Bob. That was the corrects answer and all other posts are meaningless. Problem solved. Again, thanks Bob for the correct no BS answer.
