Re: Rebuilding a 1926 10-20

Best of luck. Are parts for one of those hard to find? Or was
everything there and functional just needing to be cleaned up?

McCormick Deering 10-20 parts are easy to find for the most part, some of the specific parts for an early model like mine can be a little harder to find, that is why I had to have my early exhaust/intake manifold repaired. I was fortunate in that between the '26 model and the '30 parts tractor I had enough good used parts to complete the tractor. I did have to buy some new parts like felt seals, belt and hoses. Bearings, gaskets and piston rings for the engine. Fortunately these parts are readily available from several sources.

Hi Kirk, I needed a Splitdorf mag for my 1923 10-20 last year. I got a fully recoditioned one that a friend had bought on his visit to the USA last year. It was from Marks Magnetos from Colchester Conn and now the tractor starts on the third pull up of the handle. MJ

Great! Puzzled tho as it looks like TWO exhausts and a really strange looking exhaust manifold on the bigger one. What am I looking at?

Yes, there are 2 exhaust outlets. The larger one on the right is the main outlet, the large canister is the muffler. The small second exhaust allows the hot exhaust gases to flow around behind the intake to heat up the incoming fuel & air mixture for better vaporization of the originally used distillate fuel.

Hmmm, I've never seen one (exhaust manifold) that looked like this. Thanks for the explanation. kelly p.s. I'm a former Husker, thus my "handle" is for that AND Farmall. k
