electric baler drive

looking through vintage Farmall literature and seen that they had an electric drive on a baler about mid 50"s anybody have any input or stories or know what model baler it was? thanks john cummins

Using the Farmall Electral system gen on tractor it powered the electric motor on the baler model 55 thus no PTO from tractor was used. You can look it up and read all about the system.

A guy in Minnesota has an electric baler with an Electral mounted on a Farmall 400 or 450. He showed it at the RPRU in Minn. a couple years ago.

You might be able to see it by searching for the pics of that show.

Hi Guys! Yep thats me and my Super MTA diesel tractor and electric baler. The baler is a model 55W. The W stands for wire, a T would mean twine. As far as I can tell, the 55 baler was the only implement that IH produced that was set up to be powered with the optional Electrall electric motor. I understand IH planned to have other implements like a combine, grow lights and bug zappers, but the Electrall idea must have fizzled out before any of these other implements were designed or produced. The tractor mounted Electrall generator is rated 10 KW, 3-phase at 120/208 volts. The Electrall moter is rated 10 HP continuous duty or 15 HP intermittant duty. The Electrall generators later in the production run were re-rated to 12.5 KW. I have both generator sizes, but noticed no physical differences between the two when I had them disassembed to replace bearings and leads.
Hope this info helps, I'm always happy to (try) to answer Electrall questions or post more pics if needed. DonO

Unfortunately it is not mine. Wishes were Farmalls, I would have 6 of them. Photo taken at RPRU Albert Lea 2011. Jim
