IH 100 sickle mower

Has anyone seen one of these sell recently? I am interested in one on an auction later on this year, but would like to know what it is worth. Thanks!!

The 100 mower can come in different combinations. Gets a little confusing, but if you look at the sales literature you will find listed a 100 trailer and also semimount and FH listed as 100 mowers. Later the literature changed and the 100 mower was a trailer mower and others were kept in the 100 series (for example 110/115 midmount, 120 semimount). Later they became "1000 series". If we are talking about the #100 trailer mower, then I can tell you I have seen three of these sell at local auctions. The first was a complete mower, untested, typical condition, sold for $550. Two guys wanted it badly. The second was a pallet of parts which included a balanced head...$325. The last was a complete mower, untested, typical condition...sold for $85. I bought that last one. Other prices for the same mower, different configurations: 120 semi-mount...$210. Tractorhouse had a FH one for $350 listed. Lastly, the other mowers that I bought personally: 115 midmount, $350. 120 Semimount, lots of parts and a manual, $110. I don't honestly think the prices frequently given for these on the forums are very representative of value. I know it happens that they sell for over $500 but the mower just does not have that kind of value. The only one I ever saw go for that much was when two guys got very competitive with each other at an auction. It was clearly a collector thing. I always watch for them and note what they sell for.

There is at least one there
A 100 semi mount balanced head 9 foot will always
Bring a thousand or more
I know because I've been trying to buy one for several years

Yes, and I go to auctions all the time too and watch the same mowers sell. I really don't see your point. There are a lot of variables that can affect auction price. The prices I related are what I paid and what I saw. I also look to relative value and I stand by my opinion there also. At $1000 for a 1950's era sickle mower I would be looking at another brand or upgrading to a mower/conditioner. I have seen a few IH 990's sell for just over $1000. I paid $550 for my 990. Needed $100 worth of work from the mobile welder and I replaced the knife for less than $200. Otherwise it was good. Going on three years now with it. If you really want an IH 100 mower I will sell you mine. Just give me what I paid for it and, since you insist it is worth it, throw in another nine Franklins. You will have proven your point and I won't mind because I will have made ten times my money.

It probably needs a new knife and welded up

Pretty much every old sickle you buy is going to do a better job if you, at a minimum, change out the sections. I just replace the entire knife because of the time involved and I don't know how many cuts are in the old one. Welds? Once again, unless you buy new there are going to be repairs. We just had to weld the ladder support on a 1660 combine last year, not like it is ancient or overused. I guess I don't get your point again. Are you saying you want one with a new knife in it and ready to go? The one I have is. Or give Gordo a yell. What, are you mad at me because I picked up a few cheaper than you can find them? You need to stop going to the same auction every week and start shopping some smaller sales. OR....if mowers are just pricey in your area, lay down your cash and stop complaining.

Sorry I forgot one bit of information and that was a fast hitch one. The one I am looking at is a fully mounted FH one.

There was a FH mower listed on Tractorhouse in KY for $350. Remember, that is a RETAIL price. They got it for less. Still...it is a pretty fair price if it is in good shape. I considered driving down and getting it but that is a LONG drive for a mower. I was thinking of putting prongs on my 120 mower. Use it on the 300U.
