Farmall F12/F14 Fan Bearing Assembly Repair

Somewhere along the life of my F14, the cooling fan bearing assembly was obviously leaking oil from the cork washer. I say this because when I disassembled it last night it was full of bearing grease, not oil as I was informed it should have been. It looks like the thrust washer was worn as well because I could slide the fan ~1/2" front and back on the bearing.

Question is, I can get a thrust washer, cork washer, ect for under $10. But, can I actually repair this assembly or I am money/time wise to shell out the $80+ for a whole new assembly? Has anyone ever tried to repair one of these? I have the parts manual so I can figure out all of the parts that I think I need, but whether I can actually repair it I'm not so confident in given that its supposed to be sealed. :?:

Mine required some machining and welding to get it back right, so I opted to get the assembly. Plus its got the extra pulley if I were to ever come across the electric start set up I can afford.

Well that is an interesting point. I noticed browsing Ebay, that all of the used F-12 fans did not look like mine did. This has the single piece fan with flat blades and 12 bolts, kind of like the new assembly. It also has the extra pulley already. I wasn't sure if this was a F12 to F14 difference or if possibly this had been replaced before. I think this tractor may already have had a replacement put on once before. I too am interested in that extra pulley because I have an electric start/alternator idea (for trailer lights) I wanted to play around with eventually.

My old one is made like the used ones on ebay. These have a brass bushing that wears, and mine had actually was sitting at an angle and wore the rear of the assembly out so bad it would cost more to fix. The new I put on has bearings in it instead of the bushing, and looks exactly like the new ones on ebay. ink I got mine from Rice Equipment, not sure its been so long ago.
