My brother and I recently purchased a farmall M with m&w
hand clutch, from what I've been told does it just keep pto
turning when clutch is pressed in? Was told ours is missing
some parts, not sure what but can you still get parts for them?
We haven't got tractor to run yet so don't know what it does.
Any help is appreciated here is a picture it's a 1952

The MW clutch is designed to give an M 'LPTO'. Baisicly what it does is to disconnect one side of the differential.Works the same as jacking up one drive wheel.Step on the foot clutch and everything will stop,as with any other M.They are not designed to be used as Clutch for shifting or normal work. They worked well to stop ground travel yet the pto continued to turn.A few parts are still available from MW(the Alamo Group).Clutch disks are long gone, but someone has remanufactured them.Maybe someone here knows who.

The old lady I bought it from said I could have it for $100 cylinders are junk but rest is ok, I already took brackets off as it's no good to me. I don't plan on buying the rest but know where it is.

There is some reference material online if you google it, and IIRC Binder Books has a packet of information including a manual that you can purchase. At least that's where I seem to remember getting mine.

About 6 months ago I posted here, copies of the owners manual, and parts diagram. They should be in the archives. The original manual is right here behind my desk if you need something.

Found it, printed it can read most of it some is a little blurry but
should help me out. Thank you

these live PTO clutches are a nice show piece but as was said you cant get clutch disk anymore so my advice is dont use it, if the clutch slips tractor is use less , & its not a simple removal final drive will need to come apart , we have an H with one on and it also leaks oil out that seal inside the unit , no matter what we've tryed cant get it to stop , thinking about just removing it all together , but people will look at a show and wonder , then they really scratch there head when they see the 9 - speed lever too on our H , i think i got a manual for this unit at the genesales web site , original reprodution

Vollbracht's in Columbus Nebraska had new fiber discs for the M&W clutch at one time, I bought some from them several years ago. They may still have some, it is worth checking out anyway.
