solenoid fuel shut off valve

574 does not have a fuel solenoid at this time.
When I shut the tractor off, it runs on. Would a
fuel solenoid shut off solve this problem? If I
replace this, would I put the fuel solenoid in
place of the air mixture screw?

I do not think it would help, the electric solenoids block the flow inside the carburetor. I would try slowing the idle down.

The point of the solenoid was to shut off fuel flow, and stop the tractor from "running on" after you try to turn it off. It should be installed in place of the load screw. Most quit working and are either cut off or removed. They can be effective though if you have a tractor with this symptom.

Yes that is what it was made for and i will also add to this , Check your ing. timing and check the ideal speed with a good tach. Check for proper heat range on the spark plugs and stop using cheap gas .

Two things could be going on... if the engine has been worked/is quite well warmed up, it could be "dieseling" (running without spark on fuel that continues to be provided by the carburetor).

Or, there could be an issue where the charging system is powering the ignition system with the key turned to "off".

How long are these things "running on" after you shut off the ignition? 2 seconds? Is 2 seconds too long to wait?
